Over the last 8 years Raymond Isaacs aka Raymundo Rodriguez has fast become one the most sought after DJs in the London underground House music scene. He first started drawing attention while playing at the Buddha Lounge in Croydon, where he started out as the warm up DJ but soon became the main resident, playing up to 3 times every week. There he quickly established a reputation for having skills on the decks and it wasnt long before he started getting invitations to play at some of the more major clubs in London, including the Ministry of Sound, Hanover Grand and the Cross. He soon caught the attention of Italian party promoters Vertigo, who held their bi-weekly parties at the world famous Cross, after playing just one set for them he was immediately made one of the permanent residents, fellow residents included Dave Picioni, DJ Cosmo and Claudio Basile. Whilst at Vertigo he played alongside many great DJs, such as Ted Patterson, Satoshi Tomie, Rocky (X-Press 2), Ralf, Ricky Montonari and Smokin Jo. Danny Rampling would often be seen hanging out there and quickly became a fan, even going as far to name Raymundo as one of the future heroes of House, which was printed in the 2002 DJ Mag top 100 poll, and if you check the 2003 top 100 you will see that Ray is mentioned again, this time by world famous DJ and producer Tim Deluxe (Underwater) who claims Ray is one of the best undiscovered DJs in the scene. Ray has continued to gain more respect and really establish himself among his peers and the clubbing public. His Current residencies include Space at The Cross, Players at AKA and Glitterati at Pacha. November 2004 saw the start of his most exciting and probably most important residency to date, Jaded, Londons largest and most famous afterparty; this takes place every Sunday morning at the amazing Egg club in Kings Cross. Since its launch this party has gone from strength to strength, no matter where they may have been the night before, everyone comes to Jaded on Sunday morning, guest have include Tiefshwartz, Jose Nunez, Ralph Lawson, The Beginerz, Phil weeks and Tony Humphries to name only a few. He has also made guest appearances at all the major bars and clubs in and around London, Underwater at the End, Kinky Malinki at Pacha, Defected at the Ministry of Sound, Ministrys own Saturday Sessions party, where he has headlined the main room (the box) alongside X-Press 2, Mutiny and Jazzy M. He has also spun at the annual Naked Music party at the Cross, Garage City at Bar Rhumba, Clandestino at the End/AKA, The Gallerys Future Heroes night, Milan Calling (Vertigo) and City Loud at Turnmills. His reputation for rocking a party has even taken him abroad, regularly spinning in Italy; He has been well received in Rome, Sardinia, Milan, Sicily, Naples, Ancona, Giardini Naxsos in Taormina and Merano. He has also had guest slots for the massive HQ parties in Amsterdam, He makes regular visits to Copenhagen, playing at clubs including Levelcph and Rust where he recently ended up having an amazing back to back session with Rune RK of Artificial Funk fame. Radio has in fact started to play an integral part in Rays burgeoning career, hosting his very own weekly radio show firstly on Housefm and now on what is fast becoming one of the best underground dance music stations Pushfm I am into a very wide spectrum of house music and even though I get to express this in the different types of gigs that I do, my Feelthereal show really allows me to push the boundaries even further Rays Feelthereal show continues grow in popularity having just recently had the massive honour of receiving a House Music Awards nomination in the Outstanding radio show category, other DJs up for the same award included Roger Sanchez, Pete Tong, Norman Jay, Annie Mac and Aaron Ross. You can check out the show every Tuesday 12pm to 2pm gmt on www.ministryofsound.com (Mininistry of sound radio) and Sky channel 198 Recently ray has bowed down to public pressure and started his own weekly party, Wrong, the brainchild of Ray and Jaded afterparty promoter Krista Herron, Originally started as an outlet for ray to spin only his very favourite tracks for a small group of close friends on a Sunday afternoon, has now developed a massive cult following since it started in September 2005. Week in and week out flocks of dedicated clubbers pile into the Masque bar, Kings cross (which has now moved to Herbal 10 to 14 Kingsland road, Shoreditch) to hear Rays (and his specially selected Wrong guest djs) 6 hour deep electronic soul sets, which span from the deep and soulful to the more techy and electronic sounds of now. This party has continued to grow and grow and has already enjoyed a successful Wrong session at the End club, and with more exciting plans for Wrong on the road in the pipeline, Ray is very excited about the future of his Wrong labour of love.
