Description
Lubo Alexandrov was first taught Bulgarian folk music by his grandfather - Atanas Ganchev, a very well known kaval flute player in Bulgaria. As a teenager he developed a fascination with jazz music and began studying under Alexander Petkov, a renowned Bulgarian jazz musician and composer. In Montreal, he continued studying jazz guitar and composition with Roddy Elias and improvisation with Remi Bolduc at Concordia University.
He studied Turkish music with the oud Master Ismail Fencioglu and fretless guitar with the world renowned fretless guitarist, singer and composer Erkan Ogur. His band, featuring leading kaval player Nedyalko Nedyalkov and Gypsy dancer Nensimilia (www.myspace.com/nensimilia) make a welcome return after their UK debut at Cargo for Balkan Fever London festival 2007. Expect some infectiously danceable rhythms as well as tight n' funky guitar-led grooves. Club Zigana dj set from 7pm, followed by Lubo Alexandrov's Kaba Horo live.
