DAN SMITH and DAN GRESHAM, both from Cambridge, have been producing and remixing together for the past 4 years under the Danism moniker. Both Dans have dance music pedigrees stretchinng way back.
Dan Smith (aka Dan Liquid) has been producing ad DJing as one half of Liquid People for over 8 years. The duo have forged a powerful partnership in global house circles, enjoying widespread success along the way. Influenced by everything from jazz to disco to hip-hop, the recipe for a Liquid People hit is simple. Conan, a MPC4000 beat junkie and technician with superb deck skills, keeps the mix moving along with beat juggling, scratching and sampling while Dan’s soulful cuts and smooth mixing come together to produce an experience like no other. Liquid Peoples’ DJ style is a unique blend of New York Style House tinged with a slightly more driving and deeper sound.
Dan Gresham (aka Nu:Tone) has been producing adn DJing drum & bass for over 11 years. Dan has released tracks on labels such as Renegade, Liquid V, Soul:r, Formation, and has remixed artists as varied as Roni Size, Lenny Fontana, Quantic, Alice Russell, Zed Bias and Hard Kandy. He signed exclusively to Hospital Records in 2003, and released his critically acclaimed debut album Brave Nu World in 2005.
On the DJing side, the boys have played all over the globe, with Dan Liquid playing house at the Ministry of Sound, Hanover Grand, The End, Bed, Heaven, Garage City and Defected Records Tours. Dan Nu:Tone has played drum & bass in such varied venues as Fabric, The End, Brixton Academy, Jazz Cafe, Alexandra Palace and Plastic People.
Their production sound pulls on a suprisingly diverse range of influences - with Drum & Bass, HipHop, House and Breakbeat production credits behind them, it is no suprise that their House production has a raw, organic sound to it. Beats and Bass are key elements to the Danism sound, yet there's never a shortage of the funk.
