James has been a keen follower of dance music, and in particular House music from an early age. Frequently attending clubs around the Manchester area he began collecting records which naturally led to him getting his first set of decks in 1998.
A few years of hard work and practice followed and he was asked to play at Jarbar in Manchester. This proved to be a success and he was invited back to start playing at Jarbar on a monthly basis. Closely followed was the Emergence of Flow, a night run by himself and 4 other promoters/DJ's. Flow went from strength to strength and was rewarded with a year long residency at Sofa Central. They enjoyed a hugely succesful year which climaxed with the first birthday boat party, which in turn proved to be one of the most memorable parties of the summer. In January Flow returned to Sofa (now called Joshua Brooks) where it currently runs on the first Saturday of every month.
>The success of Flow led to James earning many rave reviews and a reputation for winning over even the most mundane crowd, he is now recognised by many as one of the best DJs on the Manchester scene. In recognition of this he is a regular fixture at nights such as 2Risque, Naked, Venus, Vegas, Plush and Rude as well as his own night Flow which continues to go from strength to strength. He has played in all of Manchester’s finest venues as well as national clubs such as the world famous Nation and international gigs at the likes of El Divino and Savannah’s in Ibiza. This summer James has had his first Ibiza residency confirmed, playing for Plush at Plastik and has also got a number of bookings in the pipeline.
Not just content with turning up at a venue and playing his set, James is known for doing his upmost in promoting any night he plays at and always brings a good crowd with him. This quality is another added reason as to why he has been asked back to play at every venue he has played at.
Playing mainly uplifting vocal based house music, 2006 promises to be a very exciting year for James, with many more potential bookings in both the UK and Europe in the pipeline to add to the success of Flow.
