Leroy Styles stands for groove, minimal and funky techno or as he likes to call it “just house”. Leroy fell in love with house music in the early 90’s and made his first steps at mixing in 1995. Back then he was working with cassette tapes because he couldn’t afford regular turntables. In 2001 Leroy Styles bought his first records and started practising on regular turntables together with his childhood friends. A couple months later he bought his own turntables and in 2002 he was given the opportunity to perform at an R&B club. But Leroy soon realised that the urban crowd did not feel his house music so it was not what he was looking for. A year later Leroy got his first big break when he got the chance to show his skills at club Off-Corso in Rotterdam, one of Holland’s finest clubs. From then on things started moving fast for Leroy.
Soon Leroy became a resident DJ at the clubnight Superstarz and after that he appeared regularly for the always critical crowd at The Thalia Lounge. The big break for Leroy came when he was asked to prove himself at one of the biggest and hottest clubs of The Netherlands: Now&Wow. Only after a few gigs, he became a resident DJ and later on he also became the musical promoter of Now&Wow.
Besides DJ-ing Leroy hosted his own club nights (Hufters, Electro Rockers) and since September 2006 he started with his own club night: LOOKS at The Thalia. Every last Saturday of the month he invites the best national and international DJ’s like Benny Rodrigues, Brian S, René Amesz, Kenny Dope (USA), Dennis Ferrer (USA), D-Ramirez (UK), Jazzy Jeff (USA) and many more.
Meanwhile Leroy performs all over The Netherlands at the best clubs like Panama (Amsterdam), The Thalia (Rotterdam), De Rechter (Eindhoven), Escape (Amsterdam), Jimmy Woo (Amsterdam), Now & Wow (Rotterdam), The Level (Arnhem), Off-Corso (Rotterdam) and many more. He also plays his music outside this little country for example South America and France.
Nowadays you can find Leroy spending his free time in the studio where he is working hard on his first releases. ‘Booty Bass (dream)’ is already ‘the summer sound’ in The Netherlands and causes madness on the dance floor. His first release ‘Jus Bounce’ is gaining huge recognition and is played al over the world by DJ’s such as Jack de Marseille, Roger Sanchez, Sander Kleinenberg, D-Ramirez, Rene Amesz, Benny Rodrigues, Steve Angello and many more. Superstar D-Ramirez mixed the ‘Sessions 13’ mix on UK super-label Ministry of Sound and included Leroy Styles’ Jus Bounce!!! This track is released on 25 Hertz Recordings, which is launched by Rene Amesz in December 2006.
But that’s not it! ‘Jus Bounce’ also appears on the new Renaissance album, mixed by Paolo Mojo. This fantastic 80-minute Renaissance mix includes tracks from Paolo Mojo himself, Joris Voorn, Cirez D, Blue Foundation, Daso, Sebo K, Loco Dice and many more.
So keep your eyes and ears open because this is just the beginning!
