Martijn ten Velden is a born and bred Haarlem boy, Haarlem that is in Holland !! Hip Hop is where he made a name for himself early on in his career, tasting success as the DJ of Dutch hip hop collective “Da Mad Scientists, playing all over Holland between 1987 – 1989 at venues such as the Paradiso, Mazzo, Rothanhuis, Akhnaton, and DMC Championships, Amsterdam 1998. He supported some of the great world renowned hip hop acts of the time like Kool Moe Dee, Stetsasonic, Cash Money and Marvelous and Martijn even found himself guest Djing with the Stereo Mc’s. In 1990 this producer, writer, remixer, and all round studio talent, decided to move to London and it wasn’t long though before the sound of house music won him over. He soon found himself Djing to house crowds throughout the UK, Europe and Middle East and hooking up with production partner and fellow DJ, David James to form the inimitable Audio Drive.

Martijn Ten Velden goes that extra mile and delivers a new digital mix full of mash ups and exclusives. Martijn Ten Velden is the Dutch DJ that has carved a successful career as an innovative house music producer and DJ across the globe. With a reputation as being full of energy and bursting with ideas, he constantly pushes for fresh sounds that he includes in his productions. Although originally Dutch, he has spend the last 18 years the UK working with various producers including Mark Knight and Mark Yardley from Stanton Warriors.

A long time fan of Defected Records, he was invited to create a mix that was different and inimitable for the label. He does this expertly in this next instalment of Defected Clubland Adventures Episode 7.

Martijn has dug deep to carefully select tracks from the Defected vaults, both old and new, some from as far back as the early naughties that continues to celebrate Defected’s 10 year anniversary.

Martijn has not forgotten to include some of his own biggest reworks within this mix, including his take on Ferrer & Sydenhams ‘Sandcastles’ and the massive Shapeshifters ‘Chime’. Once he embarked on this project he simply could not stop selecting accepellas and beats. From this he has created a whole host of original mash ups and edits that are featured exclusively in this package.
