'What A Summer 09' is musical retrospective of the scorching summer of 2009 with tour dates happening this September through October. Every 'What A Summer 09' event will be a heady mix of the AOD all-star DJ's and live performances of classic club tracks to give you the chance to remember the good times or catch up on everything you've missed out on 'What A Summer 09' will be launching at the Hoxton Pony, London on Saturday 5th September with a Stella line up featuring:
Abigail Bailey (DJ set + vocals)
Quickly becoming the first lady of house Abigail Bailey's career as a DJ has been mesmeric. Abigail has been one of the scenes leading vocalists since she stormed the charts in 2005 with the massive club anthem Herd & Fitz ŒI Just Can’t Get Enough’ released through Eric Morillo’s Subliminal label. The last few years have seen Abi focus on her DJ’ing with great success and already headlining nights at MOS, Rapture, Gatecrasher, Kiss Da Funk, Ibiza Underground, Pukka up, Kinky Malinky as well20as many European events including Follow Me, Lets Dance Swiss, Sasha Beach Session Portugal and the Montruex Jazz Festival.
Joe Le Groove
From London to eastern Europe and as far as Asia Joe is loved by many for his technical sets on 1,2,3 or 4 turntables with EFX and Loops. He has over 20 years of experience which shows every time he performs. Also working in the studio with various artists like Kanio, The Hoxton Whores and Subject 13 to name a few. He is also working on a concept album which is to be released spring 2010. .Keep and eye out for his 3rd 8 project which is presented and co-directed by Joe, this series follows the lives of djs/producers as they navigate the madness that is the music industry.
Felix Baumgartner (Defected / Cr2)
Austrian born Felix Baumgartner has been producing behind the scene for many years working with such artists as Seamus Haji, Jason Herd and Danny Howells to name but a few. 2009 has started well for this mild mannered Austrian. Releasing Slam 303 on Phonetic alongside Rob Roar and ŒNow You’re Gone’ on Defected alongside Juan Kidd, Felix is fast establishing himself as this years break through producer. His DJ sets incorporate uplifting breakdowns and deep techy drops reflecting his production style.
Matt Samuels (Toolroom)
One of the Uk's new breed of producers Matt Samuels distinctly techy sound is making him one to watch. First there was his huge remix of Depeche Mode 'Enjoy The Silence' and now he's come with a killer remix of the Prodigy 'No Good'(Start the dance). With an artist album forthcoming on Toolroom records Matt is a name you'll be hearing lots more from in the coming years.
Live PA from Rita Campbell
Also performing a special PA on the night is the ever so talented Rita Campbell. Rita Campbell got into the music industry at a very young age by singing on demos for various producers in various, Rita has worked with many major artists such as The Brand New Heavies, Jools Holland, Sly & Robbie, D:Ream, Carleen Anderson and Lemon Jelly top name a few. As well as session vocal work and songwriting Rita has been the lead featured vocalist on some great house tracks over the last few years. She has worked on various projects including Stonebridge's first album, Hed Kandi and Chris Bangs.
Rita's P.As and touring have taken her all over the world, from Glastonbury, V festival, Hyde park & Wembley to Ibiza, BCM, Pacha, Miami, NY, Boston, Prague, Scandinavia, Sao Paulo, Australia, Singapore, Dubai, Russia and all over Europe...etc. 2009 has been a very busy year so far and is set to get busier with more writing projects, PA's all over the world and the release of a new Album UnClubbed which is an amazing new acoustic project featuring 14 incredible featured vocalist, singing 14 fantastic dance classic covers and produced by the very talented Sacha Collisson (Aurora)...very Ibiza! it's available on iTunes.
