Freestyle records presents a night of funk and jazz dance with Speedometer in command
The JazzCotech dancers will kick off the evening with a free dance workshop. This is a rare opportunity to learn the moves & steps from the only outfit teaching and showcasing the art of UK Street-Fusion Jazz Dance. As individuals the dancers are all ‘clubbers’ from different social and cultural backgrounds with different takes on jazz dance. The dancers have danced for and alongside all sorts of musical greats and have appeared at all major international jazz and music festivals. They have
danced with numerous jazz and funk bands and have supported well-known artists from James Brown to Jamiroquai. They will perform fully later in the evening.
The UK's Finest Funk Crew Speedometer are live on stage, delivering the powerhouse deep funk sound they're known for today. Over the years, Speedometer has worked with many of the US funk legends including Sir Joe Quarterman and Eddie Bo. All artists were blown away by Speedometer's authenticity to the original soul-funk sound and the 2007 album "Four Flights Up" is widely regarded as one of the best funk albums of the last 10 years. The band will be releasing a live album in 2008 and start recording their 5th studio album in summer 2008 for release next year. The heaviest funk is yet to come...
