Biogs:
Half-handed Cloud is an interesting phenomenon. John Ringhofer, the man behind the namesake, is as joyful and frugal as his music. When not on tour he lives in Berkeley California & works as a part-time custodian. Half-handed Cloud is able to ensconce complicated theological concepts into playground song without condescending to his subject or to his listener. Four Half-handed Cloud full-length albums have been released on Sufjan Stevens' Asthmatic Kitty label. John is a former trombonist/banjo-player for the Illinoisemakers, Sufjan's touring band for the 2005 album "Illinois," and an occasional touring/recording member of Danielson. This version of Half-handed Cloud will have six members, filled-out by Olympia Washington band LAKE.

LAKE is a pop collective from Olympia, Washington. They have served as the live backing band for artists such as Adrian Orange (K Records) and Karl Blau (K Records), and Half-handed Cloud (Asthmatic Kitty), but LAKE's own songs and performances are where this co-ed crew truly shines. LAKE has a number of excellent songwriters whose solo work could hold its own; working together they simply overload the senses (in a good way). Currently working on their debut album with producer Tucker Martine (the Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens), LAKE wistfully flirts with the "experimental" but never, ever sacrifices the melody. And oh, the harmonies!
