Description
Golden Era Hip-Hop, Heavy Funk and Block Party Breaks
22 year old British DJ Kid Who has come a long way over the past two years. After moving to Camberwell to study photography in 2004, he quickly began putting on his own nights across South London. It wasn't long before he secured a residency at Brixton's premier hip hop night, Fidgit at Plan B, supporting names such as DJ Yoda, Cash Money, Mr Thing and The Nextmen. In December 2007, with the help of fellow resident, friend and mentor J-Bold he released his remix 'Dangerous in the 80's' on the 'Hear Nu Evil' EP, to rave reviews, and another remix is in the pipeline as well as an instrumental beats project. His meticulously detailed 'Toybox Mixtape' has spread across the internet like wildfire, and has been featured on Samurai FM, Tokyo and is scheduled for a feature spot on Ninja Tune's Solid Steel show.
Anyone who has been to a Kid Who set, from the early (and legendary!) Escape sessions to his appearances at Fidgit will have enjoyed not only his quickfire mixing and scratching but most importantly his openminded musical ethos born from a love of hip-hop and the music it was built upon. Funk, soul, reggae, disco and more are thrown into the mix with a block party attidtude alongside the late 80s and early 90s hip-hop which served as a window to a world of music throughout his childhood. With another mixtape in the works and a brand new night at 93 Feet East, Kid Who is most definitely one to look out for over the next year!
