Description

Main Hall: 90 Free Mondays
Stop! Motion + Blackpool + Beta Rays

STOP! Motion was formed in February of 2007. Their members have played with bands; Black Wire, Elle Milano, Johnny Foreigner, The Dykeenies, One Night Only and Look See Proof. Following a striking tangential course away from mainstream indie rock, modeling monochrome attire and boasting an impressively effortless stage presence, STOP! Motion pull in a remarkably large crowd as support for Johnny Foreigner. With edgy guitars and drumming fast enough to mimic the energetic movements of the lively punters, this York-based band are definitely ones to watch out for in the future. 'Always Be' lulls the audience into a false sense of melodic security before ending explosively with sharp piercing keyboards and an adrenaline rush bass line, while the poignant 'Bring Back Charlie' prompts a mass singalong by a crowd clearly impressed by the group's diverse material and startling originality.

BLACKPOOL Five French lads with a rich and powerful sound reminding of 80's cold electro, US slackers rock guitars, primal punk, mods urge and of course 'über alles' Madchester party spirit. Get ready for the "French f**ckers" (album out in sep).

BETA RAYS Lead vocals and on melody & lyric writing duties, we have Mr. George Hill. Lead guitar, backing vocals and on chords & harmony writing duties, Mr. Howard Martin. On bass guitar and backing vocals, Jake ´´fingers´´ Gladman Esq. Keys and backing vocals are performed by Mr. Tim Alcock. And finally, the man that needs no introduction, on drums, Mr. Peter Randazzo. (He´s Sicilian don´t you know.) Influences span vastly from AC/DC to the Beatles, from Blink-182 to late Beach Boys, from Radiohead to Tomás Luis de Victoria and many more subconscious additions.
