Paul Oakenfold Arrives at Discotheque Discotheque by Gatecrasher and Galaxy presents.
PAUL OAKENFOLD Saturday 7th April 2007 10.30pm - 4am
We never utter the words legend, myth, pioneer and greatness together with the word DJ unless we are in the presence of it. But here we are folks ..Paul Oakenfold or Oakie to his legions of fans will touch down on Saturday 7th April to treat the good people of Leeds to a very special, extremely rare DJ set. Are we excited? You bet we are! Advance Tickets are available through: Gatecrasher Ticket and Info Line 08704 282726 Mon - Fri 2pm - 6.30pm / Sat 11am - 3pm To say that he is one of the most influential (and successful) DJs in the world is a bit of an understatement! In a career that has spanned over 20 years and counting, Paul Oakenfold has been instrumental in amongst other things bringing house music to the UK, giving dance music cult like status through his involvement of seminal clubs like Gatecrasher, Cream and Ministry of Sound, giving us the Madchester scene, discovering Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince (aka Will Smith) and Salt & Peppa, remixed everyone from Madonna to U2, gave birth to the term superstar DJ and broken dance music in America! His label Perfecto Records is still one of the most successful in the world. His Perfecto tours still pack out arenas and stadiums from South America to Europe via Asia and Australia and he has even found time to record 2 multi million selling artiste albums (the latest of which features artistes as wide ranging as Brittany Murphy and Pharell Williams!)..
That is not to mention the countless absolutely spellbinding mix CDs he has given us.most notably his awesome Global Underground New York which is still their number one selling album in that seminal series!
So you can understand our sheer and utter excitement that he has chosen to play here at Discotheque Leeds for one of his only 3 UK gigs on this year's tour. A coup? We like to think so!
Joining him on this bill is Nat Monday who is often name checked by Oakie as one of his favourite DJs. Signed to Perfecto and a regular face on the tours. This will be a chance to see what the hype is all about!
Gatecrasher and Galaxy Nu Breed stars Riley and Durrant need no introduction. They have to abilty and prowess to rock our club like no other.
