The Smoking Hearts play punk n roll music, fusing the energy and acerbic ethos of hardcore with the sleazy, DIY ethics of garage. Amongst other bands, The Smoking Hearts like listening to: Zeke, The Ramones, Supersuckers, Pantera, and The Misfits. The band formed in early 2004 from the ashes of several other groups in Bedfordshire. Bassist Rotixx and guitarist Marky Bosshog looked to break free from the generic ska-pop-punk sound of the moment by forming a Motley Crue for the 21st century. Drummer Dr. Spark L. Horse and guitar expert Diamond Dog were the first recruits, with singer Rodd Lethal cementing the present line-up in early summer. With over 300 gigs between the 5 musicians, the sound of experience was obvious and The Smoking Hearts gelled immediately. Combining the type of vibe that made AC/DC so contagious, the band take elements of punk rock bands from the UK underground scene, and add the type of rock n roll attitude that so many bands preach, but so few actually achieve.
