22/03/10 - RADIO 1’S ANNIE MAC CONFIRMED FOR EXCLUSIVE SET AT THE VOLVO ICECAMP TAKEN OVER BY SNOWBOMBING!

With Snow time drawing near, things are hotting up here at Snowbombing HQ and we are pleased to announce that Radio 1’s Annie Mac will be shimmying her way across an Austrian glacier to play an exclusive 2 hour DJ set for 200 Snowbombing lucky bombers!

The Volvo ICE CAMP will be taken over by Snowbombing for one sunny day only and because the camp is set high on a glacier in Kitzsteinhorn, Kaprun, Snow is almost certainly guaranteed! The snowy shenanigans comprise of 4 huge igloos (including an ice bar and car showroom!), 7 separate sleeping igloos, a barrel sauna, heated Jacuzzi, ice climbing tower and avalanche safety area, all sculpted from snow in the heart of the Kitzsteinhorn glacier. We’re taking 200 lucky Snowbombers to spend an exclusive day listening to the finest beats around amidst the glistening glacier. Everything looks nice when it’s encased in ice!

Feeling the chill and treating the lucky Snowbombers to one of eclectic and floor filling sets, will be Radio 1s very own Dublin girl Ms Annie Mac! Expect a jump up and down crowd- pleasing mix of everything from electro to dubstep as the queen of the turntables gets the glacier party underway.

In a crystal clear atmosphere, visitors can sip a drink from glasses made from real ice at the ice bar, or catch a glance of Volvo’s latest innovation: the compact Volvo C30 Sports Coupé. This year, at the world’s highest-elevation show room, amidst elaborate design elements and artful illuminations, the new Volvo C30 in eye-catching orange flame-metallic will be a special highlight.

This incredible prize is open to all Snowbombers by an open ballot, but only 200 will end up being as cold as ice and as cool as school once they are chosen to experience the Volvo Ice Camp taken over by Snowbombing!

The chosen few will be able to take advantage of a stunning new location to ski and board in, and with a breathtaking backdrop, the mountains are definitely Annie Mac’s main stage. The hills will certainly be alive with music! And with a Snowbombing party bus to take you to and from the Ice Camp, a free blazing barbecue and a couple of cheeky chilling cocktails, we are looking forward to you filling your snowboots!

03/02/10 - MR MOTIVATOR CONFIRMED FOR SNOWBOMBING

All Bran, prunes and Mr. Motivator: they all get the nation moving. Guess which one the Snowbombing team have lined up to take 15 minute warm up and down sessions at the top of the ski lift each day? That's right, it's a prune! No don't be daft, they’ve only gone and bagged the UK's most famous fitness instructor and star of GMTV (it's on in the mornings apparently), Derrick Evans AKA MR MOTIVATOR ...the original SNOWtivator and Lord of the leotard will be there to greet you as you emerge from the top station red-eyed and aching from the night before to get you into shape and nicely toned for the day ahead. Everybody say "HUH!"?

With one of the best line ups around already in place and lots of amazing extras including an arctic disco, Forest Party and a brand new hidden area called Narnia, Snowbombing 2010 is shaping up to be the biggest to date! As one of the largest and most highly regarded resorts in the world Mayrhofen gets completely taken over for a week long party of hedonistic adventure and extreme sport. The resort also boasts some of Europe’s most lavish spas so you can also relax and enjoy the amazing spring sunshine and snowy mountains of one of Europe’s most snow-sure, late season resorts. The nearby Tux glacier (Austria’s highest lifted point) is only a short (free) bus ride away, and although open all-year round, is at it’s best in spring.

03/02/10 - SNOWBOMBING 2010: DRIVEN BY VOLVO

Whoop Whoop! Snowbombing are as proud as punch to announce their partnership with Volvo Car UK for the world’s biggest show on snow taking place in Mayrhofen from 5th -10th April.

Volvo is an environmentally conscious brand whose love for the mountains and environment fits in perfectly with those of Snowbombing and their mad-capped, music loving, powder praising punters.

Thanks to Volvo there will be some exciting new elements and events for Snowbombing 2010. For starters look out for 'Tour de Dance' (Snowbombing tour of European Ski Resorts), The UK Club Tour (visiting the biggest and best club nights in the UK), The Road Trip (which will see in excess of 120 cars hit the road in one big convoy en route to Snowbombing), and a Snowbombing take over of The Volvo Ice Camp (which will see Snowbombing take over the snow playground with an exclusive gig and party for a lucky 200 special Snowbombers).

Volvo will also be showcasing a range of models at Snowbombing, including the sporty new C30 SportsCoupe and sleek new C70 coupe/convertible. They will also be bringing along the XC60 crossover complete in sports-inspired R-DESIGN guise, which performs extremely well on snow and in off-road situations. 26/01/10 - SNOWBOMBING UNVEILS 'NARNIA' A MAGICAL AREA AND 'THE TWELVE SHEDS OF EASTER

From the dawn of Snowbombing time deep magic has stirred within the snowy mountains of Mayrhofen and once a year, for 5 resplendent days, it is reawakened by the pitter patter of dancing feet and the thud of a bassline. From the magical festival who brought you a rave 3,000m above sea level in a frosty igloo at the Arctic Disco, some of the worlds biggest bands and DJs in the thick of a snow capped Alpine Forest, a bonkers bonanza of a knees up in a cosy log cabin at the Back Country Party and a crazy Street Party which takes over the whole village, Snowbombing is chuffed to unveil a brand spanking new party location for 2010!
 
Grab your fur coat and prepare to enter a hidden world of magical and mystical adventure where nothing is what it seems and anything could happen as Snowbombing invites you to open the wardrobe door and enter the surreal world of Narnia…
 
Hidden deep in one of Snowbombing’s favourite venues, Narnia will bring lucky Snowbombers a secret line up of the best DJs this side of Cair Paravel. Think sparkling snow, (jager) tea with Mr Tumnus and surprises round every tree in the land where twinkling disco balls, cosmic beats and none stop dancing are the law of the land. Open the wardrobe doors and catch a secret set from some very special Snowbombing guests disguised as some familiar characters and expect the unexpected as this magical world takes you on a mystical jaunt around a world you wont want to leave. But be warned, once you do leave you might not always find your way back through the same doors…
 
We have shed loads of ideas here at the Snowbombing HQ, and for that reason we present you with the ’12 Sheds of Easter’, how eggciting! For the first time ever, we’re going to give you the opportunity to host your very own area at Snowbombing, something which no other festival has ever done! We’re shipping a whole garden centre full of sheds (literally) to the mountains, equipping them with a sound system inviting you delightful Snowbombers to name, theme, dress and possess one! You can do what you want in this shed for one night only (have a party preferably!)
 
The 12 sheds will be scattered ‘shed like’ to the four corners of the resort. We reserve the right to site our sheds anywhere – from the mountain top to the main street, the hotel foyers, the forest clearing and even in the sausage shop. Bratwurst Bonkers! An Englishman’s home is his garden shed, after all! The sheds are a blank canvas where Snowbombers can get disco crazy creative and design their own party pad for the night and then host their own private party.

12/01/10 - WILD BEASTS, THE WHIP AND EXAMPLE ADDED TO SNOWBOMBING LINE UP!

Like a huge grey cloud that just wont shift, January has descended upon us once again. But forget thoughts of gloom, guilt and detoxing, because the Snowbombing crew have got a right old treat up their parka sleeves which is sure to banish those winter blues!
 
With a line up which already includes the likes of Coventry indie lads The Enemy, Super star DJ Fatboy Slim, sentimental rock trio Doves, glum-rock’s finest Editors, hip hop legends De La Soul and the master of live electronica Vitalic, Snowbombing’s live line up is looking bigger than ever before and just keeps on Snowballing!
 
Joining them on the bill will be Art-Rock quartette, the fantastic Wild Beasts, who after an amazing year releasing their stunning second album Two Dancers will be swapping their skinny jeans for something baggier this April as they take to the slopes. But watch out for avalanches, as front man Hayden Thorpe’s ice shattering falsetto is sure to get the mountains shaking!
 
Blowing in like a blizzard at Snowbombing ‘08 and cementing their place in Snowbombing folk law The Whip were SB’s most outrageous discovery and diamond in the Snow. With their ear shattering sets and arm throwing electro/ rock performances, every debauched moment in the midst of The Whip left those lucky bombers to witness their antics quivering like Snow White on a first date with Max Moseley.
 
Next in line is rising London rapper Example. Formerly signed to Mike Skinner’s The Beats label, this boy has gone from strength to strength gaining interest from the likes of Zane Lowe and Pete Tong and has recently revamped his sound, describing it as “Dysfunctional Electro-Pop."
 
Bumping up the DJ line up and hailing from the Mad Decent hall of fame, British producer Mumdance will be bringing the rave back with his infamous jump up and down high energy sets. Expect heavy drums and jungle-carni whistles as this beat master turns up the heat. Warm your chilly bits on that!

20/12/09 - SNOWBOMBING DELIVERS EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT 2MANYDJS ADDED TO BILL!

Ho Ho Ho! It’s the time of year for loving and giving so it’s only fitting that the Snowbombing crew are treating you to an early Christmas present and have pulled out a corker of an addition to their DJ line up out of their cracker this December.

Blazing like a white-hot ball of fire and sending the hills into meltdown, Snowbombing are delighted to announce that Belgian heavyweights 2ManyDjs will make a welcome return to the Bombing bill for 2010.

Featuring the Dewaele brothers from Soulwax, 2manydjs are sickeningly good DJs who rocked the forest stage in 2009 with an amazing party set and we cant wait to have them back for 2010!

03/12/09 - FAT BOY SLIM IS BACK! NORMAN COOKE TO HEADLINE SNOWBOMBING 2010

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. The Fat Boy is back…  Santa Claus has come early this December to cram none other than super star DJ Fat Boy Slim down your chimney! After missing out on playing Snowbombing 2009 due to medical reasons, Fat Boy Slim, aka Norman Cooke is back on form and will honour his promise of returning to the mountains to headline the Forest Party at Snowbombing 2009!

The original DJ par excellence, notorious for setting a party alight will be swapping the Beach at Brighton for a chillier setting this April as Snowbombing welcome him back to headline the greatest show on snow. Famed for mixing up meaty slabs of big beats and cut-up samples, Norman will treat the thousands of skiers, boarders and ravers to a unique high altitude performance 2000 metres above sea level. Bloomin marvelous! With an Ivor Novello Award for his ‘outstanding contribution to British music’ under his belt along with a fistful of top ten hits, Fatboy Slim has deservedly earned his place as the most in-demand DJ on the planet.

And as if that wasn’t exciting enough, Snowbombing has pulled out the stops to tickle your festive fancy and are pleased as Christmas punch to announce some tasty new additions to their DJ line up.

Weighing down on the line up the like an overloaded Christmas sack bursting with Yuletide treats. Electro house duo Crookers will be bringing a touch of Italian Class to proceedings. Famed for their wobbly bass lines and high-energy sets, the boys from Milan are the perfect remedy to your winter blues.

Stepping up to the plate for the bass hunters, Dupstep pioneer and Afro Warrior Benga and his regular partner in crime Skream next are line. After helping to thrust dupstep into the main stream back in the day, these South London youngsters have gone from strength to strength and we are delighted to have them on the bombing bill for 2010. Stick that down yer Christmas stocking!

Bigger and ruder than Santa Clause after a Saturday night on the sherry, Smash and Grab residents and the original purveyors of cool Queenz of Noize boogie their way onto Snowbombing’s 2010 line up to bring you the best electro/disco floor fillers that cant fail to get you bopping.

The hills are alive with the sound of music and it’s all spangly and spaced out! Snowbombing is excited to welcome East London’s coolest party Disco Bloodbath into it’s icy fold. Over the past year, Disco Bloodbath have risen up the clubbing ladder to stardom stardom faster than Robin Askwith in ‘Confessions of a Window a cleaner.’ Ever stumbled out of a sweaty main room at Fabric or Secret Sundaze and found yourself strutting to a string laden disco-Odyssey? You can bet your bottom dollar that the guys at Disco Bloodbath were behind it!

The baby is back. After sending the arctic disco into meltdown (quite literally) in 2009, Caged Baby returns for his second dip of the Snowbombing fondue and will be destroying the dance floor with his own unique style of electro, techno and disco.

The festival which celebrated it’s 10th year anniversary last year just keeps on Snowballing! Like a snow-capped i-pod, crammed with cracking tunes and bursting with ‘moment’-inducing music, Snowbombing 2010 is starting to take shape: we can exclusively reveal  EDITORS, DOVES, THE ENEMY, FRIENDLY FIRES, DOVES, white hot French electro king - VITALIC all round festival favourites DAN LE SAC V SCROOBIUS PIP', THE CUBAN BROTHERS and special guests DE LA SOUL will all be playing live.

Fresh from their UK ‘Music for the People’ tour, Coventry rockers The Enemy are trading their trackie tops for something a bit warmer this winter as they swagger through the snow to the top of a line up that looks set to be heavier than Jon Prescott after a cake binge. Since their slot back in 2008 the boys have been busy recording their ‘Music for the People’ album and are back for a second bite of the  Snowbombing schnitzel. Expect an electric fusion of shaggy hair, super charged riffing and crowd surfing as the northern boys take Mayrhofen’s majestic mountains by storm.

The hills are alive with the sound of flapping wings and bird song this April as perching high on the bombing bill are Mancunian sentimental rock trio Doves. Their eagerly awaited 2009 album ‘Kingdom of Rust’ saw them spreading their wings wider than ever before to bring us their most accomplished album to date and after drawing huge crowds over the Summer at the likes of Latutude, Bestival and Glasto, we’re sure that the icy wind wont be the only thing sending shivers down your spine this Snowbombing!

Glistening like an icy little diamond in Snowbombing’s frosty crown, Birmingham’s glum rock darlings Editors are next in line. Known for classic tunes like ‘Munich’ and ‘Bullets’ the Brummy foursome are renowned for their explosive live performances and vocals that will leave you weaker at the knees than a peek down Eva Herzigova’s wonder bra. Brace yourselves for an avalanche of edgy screaching guitars and hands in the air anthemic rock. There will be nothing hotter to warm your musical roast chestnuts on this year!

After a jam packed circuit playing every festival imaginable and wrapping up a mammoth international tour- Hertfordshire’s finest sun-soaked pop favourites,   Friendly Fires will be feeling the frost this April and will be adding some serious bounce to proceedings. Expect crotch pumping, stage diving, moshing and plenty of sweating as the St Alban’s boys give it some serious welly. What better than some danceable summer drenched pop to warm your chilly bits when baby, it’s cold outside?

Taking one for the electronic team is French electro maestro and Lion Hearted metal disco warrior Vitalic. Master of melody and purveyor of pleasure expect a car owner’s operation manual in how to do live electro: a mess of lights, images and wires made sense of by his trademark electro stabs and thumping tech beats. The only thing bigger than his breath taking visuals is the reproduction of the sound live as the wizzard of live electronica simulates every nook and neuron.

Trading in their Urban Jungle De La Soul for the majestic mountains of Mayrhofen are old school hip- hop heavyweights, the incomparable, De Le Soul. The boys will be pulling up their pants and tipping their baseball caps to what is set to be one of their most unique high altitude performances ever. Can you imagine anything more surreal that hearing ‘Me myself and I’ against a backdrop of alpine trees, pure white snow and rolling mountains? Bloomin marvellous! This is one performance that will leave you gawping into your jagerbomb.

Spitting Rhymes like a demented snow yetti coughing up snowballs, Essex’s freshest performance poet Scroobius Pip and his trusty comrade and Mac nob-twidler Dan Le Sac will be bringing their very own unique brand of spoken word and trip-hop to the Snowbombing table. After a sizzling summer festival circiut the Sunday Best boys are cooling down and will be donning their finest furry hats to join what is shaping up to be Snowbombing’s biggest line up to date.

And no Snowbombing is complete without the spirit, the funny bone and the fantastic live shows of the always incredulous and boundary breaking fans’ favourite; The Cuban Brothers. Snowbombing veterans and honorary citizens of Mayrhofen, The Cuban Brothers unleash their infamous live shows of Breakdancing, comedy, nakedness, dance offs, crowd participation, classic and modern disco, tans and accents in your face like no other show on this earth. You’ll be sporting medallions, hairy chests and cigars bigger than bananas for weeks and the perfect way to start is tanning that bod on the glistening slopes of Mayrhofen.
